Around 7:30 AM on Thursday, November 22, 2001, five children were martyred due to an explosion of a bomb in the western Rabaat area in Khan Yunis.


Residents of the western Rabaat area, near the Hope neighborhood in Khan Yunis, came out of their homes upon hearing a loud explosion. When they reached the explosion site, they found the bodies of five children scattered as remains.


In a statement to Al-Mezan Center, AbdulMajid Mustafa Muhammad Al-Astal stated that the occupation forces had penetrated around midnight and approached a road usually taken by children to reach school, about 150 meters away from the "Gani Tal" settlement. He said that the five children were walking on the road, heading to school when the explosion occurred, leading to their martyrdom. The children were:


Mohammad Naeem Abdul Kareem Al-Astal (13 years old), in the second year of preparatory school.

Akram Naeem Abdul Kareem Al-Astal (6 years old), in the first year of elementary school.

Anis Idris Mohammad Al-Astal (10 years old), in the fifth year of elementary school.

Omar Idris Mohammad Al-Astal (12 years old), in the first year of preparatory school.

Mohammad Sultan Mohammad Al-Astal (11 years old), in the sixth year of elementary school.

Additionally, farmer Ahmed Dheeb Al-Astal (22 years old) was injured in the explosion while working in his field near the location.
